Bruny Island Day Trip
Burny Island Tour
Car ferry ride + Briny Island + Twin Fjords Viewing Platform + Wild Kangaroos + Food Tour (Oysters/Cheese/Honey)
Bruny Island is made up of two islands connected by a thread. It covers an area of 322 square kilometers, but has a population of only 500 people. It is divided into North Bruny and South Bruny. The watershed between the north and south is a narrow sandy strait - The Neck. Bruny Island is named after the French explorer Bruni d'Entrecasteaux, who explored the strait in 1792. The entire Bruny Island became a whaling base in 1804. The island's economy is currently based on the production of fruits, grains, flowers and dairy products. Due to its beautiful scenery, the proportion of tourism in the island's economy has been increasing in recent years. We went to Kettering and took a car ferry to Bruny Island. It only takes 15 minutes to reach North Bruny. It takes about 5-10 minutes to reach the Neck Lookout. North and South Bruny seem to be connected by a trail, so it is also nicknamed "North-South Line". There is an endless sea on both sides, sometimes turbulent and sometimes calm, and the scenery is magnificent. Adventure Bay is the oldest beach in Australia. It was discovered by Abel Tasman when he landed in Australia in 1642. If you are lucky, you can see rare wild white kangaroos in Adventure Bay (there are only about 150 on the island). The waters around Bruni Island are very clean, and the oysters raised there are of very high quality. Each one has a thin shell, is delicious, sweet and tender. Visitors can buy fresh oysters at the Get Shucked Oyster Farm. Bruny Island Cheese Company was founded in 2003 and uses traditional techniques to make cheese. It is recognized as the best artisan cheese in Australia. In 2016, it also began producing beer, using locally grown hops and open fermentation. The factory also prepares a variety of beer and cheese combinations for guests to make the taste better.
(For chartered groups only) Visitors can take the exciting 3 Hour Wilderness Cruise at their own expense. This 3-hour boat ecological adventure will allow you to admire Bruni Island's highest naturally formed cliffs, the majestic Breathing Rock and the lush green forests of South Bruni. There are many wild animals along the coast, such as seals, dolphins, whales, albatrosses, eagles, cormorants, seagulls and petrels. It will be an unforgettable and exciting sea journey. You will definitely fall in love with this island paradise!
